Pin It Weekly #106

How's this for an unusual building?  If you love books, these are the buildings for you.

Kansas City Public Library parking garage. The 22 book titles were chosen by patrons of the librrary. Love it!

Willa Cather is such a talented writer. I like most of her books, but this is my favorite. I appreciate that determination and strength that made it possible for her to survive and succeed.I haven't written anything about books and libraries in quite some time, but I read Willa Cather's O Pioneers! yesterday, so I've been thinking about both.  That means sharing some pins with you.
This pin is from my "bookworm, books" board.

New York Public Library

facade//basically a breezway made of pallets - let's the light in, but adds privacy. could be fence structure. whole-house fence

Seattle Library | Rem Koolhaas

Almere (holland) public library. I no es podria haver fet així la Filmoteca de Catalunya? per comptes del búnker, fosc, sense gaire ventilació i amb una despesa energètica brutal!

The Radcliffe Camera at Oxford University, built in 1737-1749. It is the earliest example of a circular library in England, and amusingly, according to Wikipedia, J. R. R. Tolkien (author of The Lord of the Rings) remarked that the building resembled Sauron's temple to Morgoth on Númenor. It is also mentioned in 'The Notion Club Papers'.

Edna St. Vincent Millay's private library. No one was allowed to enter, not even her husband

Libraries we love: Berkeley Public Library. California.

University of Michigan (Old) Law Library - Ann Arbor, Michigan

The New York Public Library
